Alopex Sketches by NexusDX Alopex Sketches by NexusDX
So, a while back someone wanted something Alopex Related on /co/.  Her wearing one of those collar things dogs sometimes have to wear.  Well, I thought it was a great idea, and I gave it a go in the middle.  Sadly, the collar looks horrible and the chipboard didn't take the ink as well as I had hoped it would.  So I thought I'd try and make up for it with some more attempts.  I like the index card attempts, particularly because I didn't sketch them out beforehand.  Just went into it.  I like this character, has a great look and interesting story.  Then again, the new TMNT comics from IDW are just plain awesome.  Gotta pick up the damn trades already.   Anyone wanna help me out with that?  One of these for a trade?  C'mooooooooooon...

Another Alopex piece: Alopex by NexusDX

5 to 45 minutes each.  Guess which one was only 5 minutes.  Ink on index stock or chipboard.

Thanks.  I really need to get new brushes, though, so I can vary the lines a bit more.  I'm down to one and I'm wearing it out pretty damn quickly.

Know how you feel - I just bought some watercolor set with a waterbrush in it... gonna mess with those as a gift for someone. Hopefully I can do a decent job.

I like working with watercolors.  They can be a lot of fun but a bitch to control at times.  But that potential randomness of the medium makes me enjoy using it.

I got a week coming up with lots of time to myself... if anything good comes of it I'll post it. Digital is so much more my thing though... I never feel like I'm wasting materials so I'm much more free with my "art"

I'm at no loss for supplies, so me going through shit as if it was water is a good thing.  No matter what mistakes I make, it's at least me doing something productive.  Shit or otherwise.  Which is something I need to do more of.

It feels good just going at it.  A lot of the traditional brush work I've been doing has just been me screwing around, no pencils, no planning, just drawing.  I have a series of about 40 - 50 2 inch zombie drawings I plan on posting up soon enough (once I draw some more) that I just went into.  Some are even good.
